Mom was transported to Moses Cone Hospital yesterday (Friday) at about 4pm. She had a fever of 102, was incoherent, and shaking uncontrollably. She is being treated for a urinary tract infection (UTI) which often presents these symptoms. But there is also a possibility of her having had another stoke. So they did an MRI on her head this morning.
Pop has been to the hospital for visits yesterday and today, and he’s doing alright. I talked with him mid-morning today. George & Sally have been my eyes and ears almost constantly since I first called them (immediately after I got the call from Wagon Wheel Ranch as Mom was heading out in the paramedic unit).
I talked with Mom early this morning. She sounds horrible. Probably drugs coupled with some disorientation. Her charge nurse has kept me up to date along with George & Sally. The hospital expects to keep Mom there for three or four days. Certain tests can be done tomorrow (Sunday) like a EKG to check damage to her heart, but other tests will have to wait till Monday. In any event, they want to monitor her closely while drugs are administered intravenously.
Best advice at this point is that no one should descend on Greensboro. There’s nothing there for any of us to do but get in the way. And, at the moment, the belief is that she will heal up from this and go back to WWR. I will keep you up to date on any news as it becomes available. In the meantime, be sparing in your calls. She’s pooped.
