Daily update — 090110

Here’s what I did today: I built Mom an end table and placed it right next to her arm-chair.  She’s delighted.

Here’s what I did not do today:  anything to do with Mom writing cards.

I’ve always thought of ElderBlog as something to help others.  At the end of yesterday’s post, I asked for help.  Wow, did I receive it.  I read many of the replies in the morning, so what I might have done today, I did not do; thanks to you.  Of course, you all sided with Lisa which gave her no end of satisfaction.  But it takes a big man to admit he’s wrong…

I’ve gained many new friends through the writing of this blog.  Among them is Carmen who moved to Europe to take care of her mother.  Carmen found ElderBlog through the Story Project of Today’s Caregiver.com, and while I cannot find a direct link to this blog, I can tell you that the website itself has lots of good stuff for caregivers.  It’s worth your time.  I’ve placed a link to it in the right-hand column.  Thanks, Carmen.

Hi Fred, Thanks for mentioning me — I felt famous for a second there! I actually found you on http://www.thefamilycaregiver.org (yes, through the Story Project). Not sure if your quoted website has a link to this project as well, but just wanted to clarify. I continue to appreciate your updates so very much, it helps tremendously to hear another voice in similar circumstances. For us, caregiving has taken another turn as we are about to move from Austria to Germany as there is better medical care for my mom. Eventually, my husband will then move back to the States to look for work, so we are looking at a geographical separation yet again.

Thank you for making me feel much less alone! May your weekend be peaceful, Carmen
